Denim Blues

“What kind of overalls does Mario wear?…….. Denim, Denim, Denim”

Joking aside, I am a sucker for a comfy cotton dress! They are the staples of my wardrobe once the weather gets warmer and this denim dress will be on repeat all season long. For this look I paired this denim dress with my favorite block heels and a statement necklace. But I can also wear this versatile dress with my converse’s and a ball cap for a more casual vibe. Basically, no matter how you style this dress you are sure to be comfortable and cute!

This denim dress is under $35 and features a small slit on the sides so be mindful of that before purchasing. I ordered a size 8 and the length is perfect with the small slit. {For reference, I am typically a medium or size 4/ 6}.  Also side note the pocket detail on the front is a faux pocket, sad face because everyone loves pockets.

Embroidered Dress

Spring is here! {or at least for this week} A new season brings new trends. I have my eye on embroidery being a big trend this spring. Embroidery can make any garment come to life and this shift dress is no exception! The intricate details make this dress stand out. Here I paired it with my favorite Tommy Hilfiger wedges but I can totally see wearing this shift dress with espasdrilles and a denim jacket for a more casual vibe. Maybe for a day of wine tasting {wink wink}

This adorable dress is from Francesca’s but unfortunately is not sold online. BUT I have linked other embroidered faves  here, here & here!

What has been your favorite trend for spring?? Thanks so much for reading!

When Green Isn’t Your Color

Unless its olive, I am not the biggest fan of the color green. I just don’t think it looks good on my skin tone. But with St. Patties day right around the corner I wanted to find something cute to wear to ensure I don’t get pinched!

This soft mint colored bomber jacket is the perfect complement to a blush or floral blouse. I paired it with a blush baseball tee for this occasion but the colors look great together and are perfect for spring. Best of all…. you won’t get pinched (: click pictures below to shop.

We take Saint Patrick’s day very seriously in my household. My mom’s family is Irish (maiden name Cahill)  and Justin’s last name in Murphy, so there is no escaping our Irish roots. Although what we celebrate is very “Americanized” holiday, I love eating traditional corned beef and cabbage and especially soda bread!

Irish Blessing

Wishing you the luck of the Irish!

BaubleBar™ Tassel Earrings

Finally getting around to sharing these beauties with you!  I ABSOLUTELY loved the SUGARFIX by BaubleBar™ line at Target. The bright colors and fun two-tone design made these the perfect must have earrings for Spring. In fact the whole jewelry line is so bright and colorful, they make the perfect accent pieces as we transition to Spring.

When I go shopping for earrings I look for 2 things…

1) they need to be lightweight

2) they need to be durable.

These are both!! The drop earring design makes them feel secure without weighting down my ears. And if these earrings can survive a night out on the town with my best friends, they can survive anything. lol

Bell{e} Sleeves

Shirt: Old/ similar linked here and here

How cute are these bell{e} sleeves?! See what I did there. There is something so feminine and flirty about bell sleeves. The tribal print paired with skinny jeans and my favorite cognac booties makes for the perfect casual Friday outfit.

Speaking of, is it Friday yet?!  I feel like this week has just crawled by. We’ve got another jam-packed weekend of lacrosse {Justin coaches the UNCC men’s club team} but at least we get to enjoy another weekend in the 70’s. Insert hand praise emoji. There are a few away games coming up around Spring Break so I keep dropping casual hints that we should make a vacation out of it. Fingers crossed!

Have a great weekend, loves!

Short but Sweet

This past weekend Justin and I traveled to North Myrtle Beach, SC for a short visit with my family who were vacationing there while trying to escape the snow up North. We soaked up the sun and thoroughly enjoyed the first weekend in the 70’s while family in New York was getting more snow. How did we get so lucky?! Hopefully winter really is over because I am so excited to try my hand at some of the new spring trends!

But of course with any beach trip comes the beach pictures. For an early morning walk on the beach I opted for these adorable wrap leggings and lace-up sweater from Aerie. The leggings are the perfect way to add a bit of flair to your work-out attire. They come in a variety of colors and did I mention they are on sale?!

Another short but sweet weekend in the books.  A few bottles of wine, plenty of laughs and now I’m left wishing I could put this weekend on repeat.

Hidden Details

The sweater is a 2-in-1, with a removable snood that is super soft and cozy. Perfect for those chilly mornings but easily removable for time spent indoors. And that’s not all for the details, it also has these cute little thumb holes that totally sold the sweater for me.

Wine & Dine

Charlotte’s Queens Feast is seriously one of the highlights of my year. So many amazing restaurants to try, so little time! This past Sunday, Justin and I tried McCormick & Schmick’s in Uptown and not only was the food everything I could have wished for but so was the atmosphere. Warm down lighting, a bottle of wine and a cozy corner table made for a perfect night as the rain and wind whipped outside. Below is what we ordered and our reviews. If you have any recommendations for next year let me know! It’s always so hard to choose!!

First Course:

C.A.B. New York Strip Carpaccio – garlic Parmesan aioli, arugula salad, capers {potentially the best arugula salad I have ever had}

Shrimp Bisque – fresh parsley {so creamy and delicious, the bowl was completely clean}

Medallions Nautilus – lobster, scallop, steak, blue cheese chive risotto, Bordelaise {McCormick & Schmicks is known for their steak and mine lived up to the hype. But the highlight for me was the chive risotto. Who knew blue cheese and risotto would taste so good?!}

Pan-Seared Mahi Mahi – lobster risotto, saffron butter, basil oil {a crowd favorite}

Mocha Crème Brulee – fresh berries {sweet and light, a perfect way to finish a three course meal}

Upside Down Apple Pie – candied walnuts, cinnamon ice cream {Justin could not stop raving about the cinnamon ice cream, its life changing}

Outfit details:

  • Top- Express lace up cold shoulder pullover
  • Bottom- Levi 711 jeans
